All prices with Travel Luxuries Adventure include park fees, TANAPA rescue fee, crew (guide, assistant, cook, porters), accommodation, meals, and safety equipment including pulse oximeters and supplemental oxygen on summit day.
TANAPA Park Fees — The Fixed Cost
Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) charges fixed entry and rescue fees for every climber. These are non-negotiable regardless of operator and apply to every Kilimanjaro climb:

Any Kilimanjaro package priced significantly below $1,500 per person for a 5-day route should raise questions about what is actually included. After park fees alone, a reputable operator has minimal room to cover guides, porters, food, and accommodation.
Guide and Porter Costs
Porter ratios and guide qualifications are where reputable and cut-price operators diverge most significantly. TANAPA sets a minimum porter load of 20kg total (personal gear plus client bag). Our ratios:

How Group Size Affects Cost
Kilimanjaro pricing has significant economies of scale. The vehicle, logistics, and a portion of the crew cost are shared across the group. The per-person price drops substantially as group size increases:

How to Get Value Without Cutting Corners
Three questions that separate good-value packages from dangerous cheap ones:
1. What is the porter-to-climber ratio and what load do they carry? Minimum 3 porters per climber is our standard. Porters carrying over 20kg (including their own gear) is an ethical and practical concern — overloaded porters move more slowly, which affects the pace of the entire group.
2. What does the guide carry on summit day? A pulse oximeter, supplemental oxygen, and a satellite communicator are non-negotiable. Ask directly.
3. Is the operator TATO registered and TANAPA licensed? Both certifications are verifiable. Unregistered operators exist and take shortcuts on safety.
