About Travel Luxuries Adventure
Travel Luxuries Adventure is a tour operator based in Moshi, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. We guide travelers on safaris across Tanzania's northern circuit, climbs on Kilimanjaro's six main routes, and beach holidays in Zanzibar. Our office is a 45-minute drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport and 10 minutes from the Kilimanjaro National Park gate — which means our logistics are built on ground-level knowledge, not head-office estimates.
We were founded by Michael Mwampegete, a Tanzanian national who grew up near the mountain and has spent his career guiding and managing expeditions across East Africa. The company has been operating since 2010 and is registered with the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) and operates in full compliance with Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) regulations.
What We Actually Do
Our day-to-day operation covers three areas: Kilimanjaro trekking (private, group, and luxury), northern Tanzania safaris (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara), and Zanzibar beach and experience packages. We also run combination itineraries that link the mountain, the parks, and the island into single seamless trips.
We employ our own licensed guides and drivers — they are not freelancers hired on a per-trip basis. Our guides go through a structured onboarding program before leading independent groups, and many have been with us for several years. On Kilimanjaro, our lead guides hold Wilderness First Responder certification and carry pulse oximeters on every climb.
How We Work With Communities
A significant portion of the people who work on our mountain climbs — porters, cooks, camp assistants — come from villages around Kilimanjaro National Park. We pay above the KINAPA minimum porter wage, provide all equipment, and apply the tipping guidelines recommended by the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project. On safari, we use locally owned camps and lodges where possible, and our guides are briefed to follow Leave No Trace principles in all parks.
Our Approach to Safari
We run safaris in purpose-built 4x4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs. Our guide-drivers have an average of 10+ years of experience in Tanzania's northern parks and bring a depth of knowledge about animal behaviour, ecology, and seasonal patterns that makes a practical difference to what you see. We don't over-promise on game sightings — what we do promise is that we'll position you better and stay longer at significant sightings than a rushed itinerary would allow.
